Our Story
As many of you know, there are two versions of the "how we met" story. Kaitlin concedes that Frank's version is much more entertaining, and Frank admits that he may have embellished the details just a little bit. However it began, here they are today, and that's what really matters. But if you really want to know...

That Fateful Night
It was a lovely mid-April Friday evening, and Kaitlin was enjoying a cocktail with her friends, Bettina & Traci, at her local favorite spot in downtown SLO--Sidecar, of course. A little while into conversation, a tall, dark handsome man walked in and immediately captured Kaitlin's attention. The lights dimmed, everything went into slow motion, his wavy hair blew softly in the breeze, and Barry White's "You Are The First, My Last, My Everything" played as if triggered by his entrance.
He sat at the bar, Kaitlin had tunnel vision and he was in the cross hairs. She didn't recognize him, and wondered, "who is this stranger and how is it possible we haven't met?" Not long after he arrived, both of her friends had to leave. Kaitlin decided to finish her drink at the bar before heading home...
She walked straight up to Frank, "is this seat taken?" she asked, gesturing to the empty chair beside him (even though all the other chairs at the bar were empty, or so Frank says). He invited her to sit, and they began to talk as strangers do.
The subject of work came up, and Frank explained that he was just having dinner and returning to perform a press check on a client's wine label (Tooth & Nail's The Fragrant Snare). When he mentioned the label designer's name, Kaitlin remarked she was a fan of his work. It was at that moment, as Frank wiped his mouth with his napkin obstructing his vision, that Kaitlin very discreetly sprinkled her magic potion into his glass.
He took another drink, and looked at Kaitlin. "Would you like to come with me to the press check?" he asked. She thought for a minute, at least she knew the business location and could just jump out of the car if he drove the wrong direction... She accepted, and they were on their way.
Frank impressed Kaitlin at the press check, and when his clients invited them to join their Tooth & Nail crew and some fellow wine industry friends for a beer afterwards, they accepted. They mingled and chatted with the others before deciding to find a more quiet place where they could talk. They covered all the big questions that night, including do you have kids? like kids? want kids? Finally it was nearing 2am and the lounge was closing. They left, hand in hand, and Frank drove Kaitlin home.
"I don't want to wait a whole week to see you again," he said to her. She paused, and replied, "my friends and I are going wine tasting tomorrow, would you like to come?" He accepted, and the rest is history.

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
